The following materials were used to facilitate Fall School 2006 courses and are provided for your convenience courtesy of Maryann Shovestul and the facilitators involved. They are listed in alphabetical order.
60 Minutes
Popular class back again for another 60 minutes of more than 60 ideas to enhance your troop program. This is a 'mixed bag' of activities that are fun and educational for all ages. Please bring paper, pencil & a smile.
95th Anniversary Sing Along Songs
Come have some fun learning some of the songs that will be sung at the 95th Anniversary Sing Along next June in our Nation's Capital.
Bandana Backpacks #1, #2 & #3
Bring 2 pre-washed bandannas with you and see how you can turn them into a drawstring backpack in just a short amount of time. Sewing machines will be available.
Beginning Knitting
Learn beginning knitting stitches and complete an easy project. Participants will need to bring a pair of 8, 9 or 10 knitting needles.
Box Oven Cooking
Do you know how to cook in a box? Every GS leader should have this skill and a few good recipes in her backpack. Come find out what this is all about, or refresh your old skills. Appetizer will be served.

Cascade T-Shirts
And you thought Cascade was just for dishes? No Way - turn a T-shirt into a work of art. Bring a dark or bright colored T-shirt, pre-washed without fabric softener.
Clayful Creations
We will be working with air-drying clay as well as oven baked clay. There are even projects that Daisies can do with relative ease.

Join us for some new (and old) ideas to make Ceremonies more fun, interactive and meaningful.
Creative Custom Candles
Customize pillar candles with rubber stamp designs.
Crochet Dunk Bags
Very easy crocheted dunk bag. This is very easy for girls to create their own personalized dunk bag. Participants need to bring 1 ball of crochet thread and a US00/2.7mm crochet hook.
Crocheted Bead Necklaces
Using just chain stitch and beads, create an attractive necklace. No crochet experience necessary. Participants will need to bring E or Size 4 size crochet needle and "E" 6/0 beads (glass looks very nice).

Teens, are you ready to expand your horizons beyond the Girl Scout of Chesapeake Bay? Then Destinations is just the place for you. Come explore the possibilities that are available to you. Leaders, parents, advisors welcome.
Embroidery Basics
Learn basic embroidery stitches that can be used with floss, crewel yarn or in ribbon to create fun and beautiful designs. Really easy to learn. Participants need to bring 6" embroider hoop and scissors.
Espanol Crafts Uno #1 & Dos #2
Mexican Paper Crafts
Craft sampler of three popular espanol crafts - Weaving, Giant Tissue Flowers, Ojo de Dios (God's Eye). Bring your own glue gun.
Furry Flip Flops
In no time at all you can spice up a pair of flip flops. Participants need to bring a pair of flip flops, fun fur yarn and a size K Crochet needle. You don’t have to know crochet to do this craft.
Heritage Scrapbooking
Learn how to preserve family and ancestor pictures and history for future generations. Includes some information on genealogy. Bring small sharp scissors and family pictures.
Hemp Jewelry
Huck Embroidery
Huck Embroidery or Swedish Weaving – We will use this surface embroidery technique to make bookmarks. Bring embroidery or sharp scissors and two skeins embroidery floss for a tree project.
It's the Law
Experience activities that bring the Girl Scout Law to life. Learn how to help girls actually live by the Girl Scout Law. Participants need to bring paper and pencil.
Knot For Me!
Let’s have fun with knots – from functional to decorative, participants will learn a variety of creative ways to use rope.
One Pot Cooking
Learn to cook some FABULOUS one pot meals. You'll leave with a full tummy and fist full of recipes. This is a dinner course.
Orienteering
Basic orienteering - use a compass and a map together to locate orienteering points around 7 Trails End.
Outdoor Skills for Girls
Outdoor Skill for Daisys
Learn how to teach girls Outdoor Skills and the recognitions they can make to remember them. Optional items to bring are a pocketknife and sit-upon.
Piñata
Make a piñata filled with treats. A traditional part of Mexican Christmas celebrations, these can be used at ceremonies.

From a few simple items you can create a basket full of puppies! Participants need to bring a clean tuna can with the label removed and scissors.
Thumb Print Garden
Bring a pre-washed white T-shirt with no fabric softener. You will help each other decorate T-shirts using your thumbs as your brush.
Wild Women Pins
What do you get when you combine shrinky dinks and wire? A pin with attitude! Participants need to bring wire cutters, needle nosed pliers, 22 or 24 gauge wire - can be colored but not plastic coated. |
