Miss Spider’s Tea Party at Camp Todd
Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies
Girls will love learning secrets about spiders, making spider snacks, singing spider songs and creating a spider craft.
Explore some outdoor skills such as learning how to read a compass, cooking on a campfire and building a shelter in the woods.
WHEN: October 25-26, 2014, 9 a.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday.
WHERE: Camp Todd
COST: $35, includes program supplies, fun patch and three meals.

Trick-or-Treating
Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors
Girls are invited for a night of safe trick-or-treating in the residence halls at the University of Delaware.
There will be candy, activities and fun.

Celebrating National Chemistry Week 2014
“The Sweet Side of Chemistry—Candy!”

Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors

The Delaware Section of the American Chemical Society invites all scouts to a free children’s event that includes hands-on activities, exhibits, and more.  The theme is year is candy.  The texture of a piece of candy depends mainly on the number, size, and type of the sugar compared to water, and the other ingredients present.  Come out to learn more about the chemistry involved in candy making, the properties of candy, and much more.

WHEN: Saturday, November 1, 2014, Noon – 4 p.m.; Activities from noon - 3 p.m.,chemistry show at 3 p.m.

Scout Day at the Museum

Girl Scout Daisies through Juniors

Join museum staff and volunteers for a funfilled evening! We will have a variety of crafts, live animal presentations and more—all geared towards meeting badge requirements.

you how to create harmony, build confidence and how to make beautiful music!

Explore the Marshall Steam Museum and its collection of antique automobiles while learning about the historic journey of Alice Ramsey, the first woman to drive an automobile across the United States in 1909. Learn about her struggles and accomplishments as you work towards your Courageous and Strong petal.

Join us for a fun Friday Night Dance Party in the newly-renovated Todd Hall at Camp Todd. On Saturday, wake up for breakfast and take the day at your leisure. You will have the chance to hike, use the zipline and much more. We will end the evening with a fun campfire and S‘mores.

Enjoy a morning at the zoo during this special program just for scouts! There will be games, live animal encounters and other activities all geared toward meeting scout badge requirements. Brandywine Zoo fun patch will be available for purchase.

Make the World a Better Place and Use Resources Wisely
Girl Scout Daisies
This program will help you earn two petals. Make the World a Better Place and Use Resources Wisely offers Daisies ways to help incorporate the natural world around them to promote recycling of natural resources. Help keep the grounds clean while enjoying a nature hike at the museum.

Animals and Me
Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies
From mild to wild, different animals have different needs. Girls will have the opportunity to learn how we take care of our zoo animals and meet some up close! Program includes live animal encounters, zoo tour and a take home craft.

Winter Wonderland at Camp Todd

Winter Wonderland introduces the camp experience to girls who have never had the chance to stay at camp before. This weekend you will work on fun winter crafts, find ways to work together through fun winter games, zip line through the cool breeze and have cozy warm snacks with new found friends.

Day: January 10, 2015, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Overnight: January 9-10, 2015, 7 p.m. Friday
through 7 p.m. Saturday.
WHERE: Camp Todd
COST: Day participants: $15 includes fun patch, crafts lunch and snack.
Weekend participants: $35 includes fun patch, crafts and four meals.

On My Honor Ceremony
Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors (Grades K-12)
To achieve the Girl Scout Gold, Silver and Bronze Award takes dedication, organization and determination. These awards are not easily achieved and the girls who earn them are to be commended. This special girl-led ceremony will honor the Girl Scouts who have achieved their highest grade level awards. We will also acknowledge the commitment of girls who have been a Girl Scout for 10 and 13 years and graduating seniors. Information about the Take Action projects will be on display. Attendance by honorees, families, friends and the Girl Scout community is encouraged. 8th Grade Cadettes through Ambassadors who are not being honored, are eligible to apply for Mistress of Ceremonies.
WHEN: January 11, 2015
WHERE: Smyrna High School, Smyrna, DE
COST: $4 per person. (There is no cost for girls being honored.)
NOTE: Girls must complete and submit final paperwork to council by the September 30, 2014 deadline in order to be recognized for their accomplishments. Submissions of final reports after the deadline will not be eligible for recognition at this year’s ceremony. They will be honored the following year.

 

Animals Galore
Girl Scout Daisies
Join us to complete a variety of the requirements for 5 Flowers, 4 Stories and 3 Cheers for Animals! You will learn all about various animals’ homes, how they move and their special features. Everyone will learn ways to be safe around animals and ways to care for animals. While learning what animals eat, you will create fun animal-themed snacks.
WHEN: January 17, 2015, 9 a.m. – Noon

Sisterhood Communication!
Girl Scout Daisies
Learn to “be a sister to every Girl Scout” by communicating with others and learning about foreign cultures through technology. You will learn to keep in touch by making a postcard with Publisher or by making Skype calls. You will also learn about other cultures by doing research through Bing.

For the Love of Animals

Celebrate your love of animals and discover what it takes to care for animals at the zoo. We can show animals how much we care by properly caring for them. We’ll explore what both pet and wild animals need to feel truly loved! Program includes live animal encounters, zoo tour, and a take home craft.

Wonders of the Night Sky
Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors
Use telescopes, binoculars, and the naked eye to observe a full moon rising, Orion sinking, Leo prancing, Venus low in the west, Jupiter high in the south, and other celestial sights. Join the ranks of Citizen Astronomers around the world by participating in the GLOBE at Night project to assess light pollution. If it is cloudy, we will observe the “virtual” sky in Mt. Cuba’s planetarium.
WHEN: April 4, 2015, 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Earth Day at Camp Todd

Earth Day is about more than just appreciating our earth, it’s about learning to live in harmony with our environment! Hiking, ziplining, and the Team’s Challenge Course await us in the great outdoors. And don’t forget about cool crafts, cooking over the fire, singing songs, playing games and meeting new friends. We’ll be focused on learning about making environmentally responsible choices so our world and our bodies can work well together, and how to be leaders in educating others as well! As always, prepare to enjoy the natural environment, outdoor activities, fun and games.

Take a step on your Daisy Flower Garden Journey during this fun-filled exploration of the Winterthur Garden.

WHERE: Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library, 5105 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807
COST: $8 per girl, includes fun patch and admission for the day. Additional parents and siblings who would like to visit the museum must pay group rate admission ($15 for adults, $10 for children).

Daisy and Brownie Discover Camp Grove Point
Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies

Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors
Explore the ins and outs of historic Cooch-Dayett Mills and discover how water-generated energy to run all its machines. Harness the ultimate power source – the sun! Observe this star with a specially-filtered telescope, do a solar power experiment, construct a simple sundial, make your own solar print and use a solar oven.
