QSP & Nut Program
The QSP & Nut Program runs in the fall.

Why Participate in the Fall Product Sales Program?
Because it is a quick, fun, and safe way for Girl Scout troops/groups to raise money in the fall.

Why is it quick?
It is over in less than a month (following Service Unit education to October 25), and troops/groups see their share of the funds immediately.

How is it fun?
Magazines make reading fun and the “Be a Reader” Program provides great Girl Scout Program activities. Also, Girl Scouts will receive some very nice incentives for their participation.

How is it safe?
Girls do not take orders door-to-door. They only contact family members, relatives, and trusted friends. It is an appeal to family and friends of Girl Scouting to renew their existing subscriptions and purchase new ones through the Girl Scout Council.

What's involved?

Step 1...
The average American Family spends over $151 annually on magazines, with about 98% of that amount leaving the community. Not only can your family and friends save 75% off the newsstand price of America’s most popular magazines. 45% of each subscription stays in our area benefiting your local troop and the programs and trainings the Council provides for the girls and volunteer leaders.

Step 2...
Girls can ask family and friends living in other states or communities to help support Girl Scouts by completing the special referral coupons in the Mail-out Booklets. QSP will mail information which shows them how to purchase their favorite publications at the same low prices. Troops will earn $3.00 for every 10 completed label coupons turned in. We have QSP’s guarantee that names submitted will not become part of a mailing list! See next page for information about the Address Adventure Program.

Step 3
The nut and candy portion of the program provides girls the opportunity to offer their family and friends the option to support Girl Scouts by purchasing high-quality, delicious nuts and candy. The nuts and candies are attractively packaged, will be delivered before the Holidays and make thoughtful gifts or “thank you” presents. This years program will feature a Limited Edition Girl Scout Tin, and a Holiday Tin.

Fall Product Sales Packets will be available from the Service Unit Fall Product Sales Manager. Troops registering after Oct. 25 may participate in Step 1 & 2 of the Program (not the Nut and Candy portion).

Online Program: Ordering for Reader's Digest through the Internet

We're thrilled to offer this exciting way to participate in the Fall Product Sales Program. Go to the product sales portion of the Council website (www.gscb.org) and click where you see the “reduce and reuse” patch. It takes less than 15 minutes! Girls simply register with a parent, complete the interactive learning activity and invite friends and family to shop on line.  Parents can order their own subscriptions too!

Girls will receive the “reduce and reuse” patch for entering 12 or more e-mail addresses, earn 15% for their troop for each subscription sold online and will get credit toward their incentives for any online orders. Girls can check back throughout the sale to track their progress and enter additional e-mail addresses to meet their goals quicker. At the end of the program, girls/parents simply login and print the “Detailed Order Report” to give to their troop Fall product Sale Manager along with their other orders by the troop deadline date. No “Detailed Order Reports” will be accepted after October 25th, 2008.

"Be a Reader" Patch Activity Project
Once again, we are proud to offer the Be a Reader Program, where girls complete a series of activities designed for all age levels to encourage reading and reinforce literacy concepts. This year’s booklet offers fun and exciting activities to help girls discover more about keeping their world “green”, or environmentally healthy.  It helps them to connect with others in a cooperative learning process and to take action by carrying out realistic goals for projects that make a difference in their community.

Each troop will receive a Be a Reader booklet either in your Spring into Fall packets (if you have meet the eligibility requirements) or from your Service Unit Fall Product Sales Manager. Girls in all program levels are invited to work on the Be a Reader activities listed in the booklet and earn Be a Reader patches. Girls completing the program for the first time receives a large Be a Reader patch; additional years of completion are recognized with a “Bee,” which is placed around the outside of the patch.

Be a Reader patches are available for purchase in the Bay Shops. However, Troops/Groups participating in the Fall Product Sales Program and averaging one QSP order per registered girl, may receive these patches free! A list of eligible troops/groups will be available in the Bay Shop after January 15, 2009.

Address Adventure!
There’s lots to explore and adventures at every turn when you take an exciting Eco Trek across America. Girls complete the address booklet with names of family and friends and bring it to a troop meeting. Using the Eco Trek across America map located in the packets you will receive from the Service Unit Fall Product Manager, find the state for each address in the booklets and see how many “green spots” you can locate in, or near, that state. The map also includes some fascinating ways some people are “going green”.

As a troop, girls will have fun learning all about our nation’s many green spots. They will be following in the footsteps of Girl Scouts everywhere who want to discover, connect and take action to make the world a better place.  Consider setting a goal that will take you to one of America’s green spots.

Girls completing the program for the first time may receive a large Address Adventure globe patch; additional years of completion are recognized with a small Address Adventure globe patch, which is placed around the outside of the patch. Address Adventure patches are available for purchase in the Bay Shops.
