Girl Scout Gold Award

Gold AwardThe Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement in Senior Girl Scouting. It is symbolic of your efforts in a variety of Girl Scout and community experience as well as your commitment to working to better your life and the lives of others. It should build on your personal action for helping others, both in and outside of Girl Scouting.

Earning the Gold Award requires hard work and a willingness to take on significant responsibility. It will involve choices, decision making and the ability to follow a plan you set for yourself. With commitment and guidance of a leader and Gold Award advisor, the Gold Award can be earned.

Girls earning the Gold Award will receive their awards at the Annual Council Meeting. Our Board of Directors is very excited about the opportunity to congratulate the girls and hear about their wonderful projects. This will also give our delegates the chance to meet the girls and share the girls' accomplishments with their Service Units. Service Units, in conjunction with recipients' families, should also plan to honor girls on the local level. Please look for an invitation in your mail if you are a Girl Scout Gold Award Recipient sometime in late February or early March. The dinner will be held in Dover, DE in April.

Girl Scout Gold Award Project Applications will be reviewed by members of the Gold Award Mentor Committee. Girls can choose to make a presentation to the committee and ask for their comments, suggestions, and advice, or they can opt to have the committee review their applications and respond to them in writing. The approval process is faster for those making a presentation because there is no waiting time to have questions answered or points clarified, but it is up to each individual girl how she wishes to proceed.

Bronze AwardThe Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. It reflects the promise girls make to help others, improve their communities and world and become the best they can be. The first three requirements help girls build skills by earning Junior Badges, a Junior Sign, and doing leadership activities, in preparation for doing the last requirement, a 15 hour service project. A girl can do the Girl Scout Bronze Award Service Project by herself or with others. The Bronze Award is awarded at special ceremonies at the troop or Service Unit level. Leaders purchase the award at the Bay Shop.
