Get ready for a delicious journey as you connect to a fantastic farm within your local food shed. Dig deep at Delaware Nature Society’s Coverdale Farm Preserve to investigate farming practices from soil management to animal husbandry and vegetable production for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Investigate soil in sustainably managed fields, discover how compost is produced on a large scale, and lend a hand with daily farm animal chores. Join in the harvest of seasonal vegetables and work together in our teaching kitchen to create a few “straight from the farm” dishes certain to make everyone a Locavore! Bring bag lunch and a water bottle. Eating is part of the afternoon session! Dress for the weather and wear comfortable hiking shoes. Completes some requirements for the Sow What Journey. Program includes the Senior Locavore badge.
