Troop Camp Training
Troop Camp Training provides adult volunteers and Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors who are new to camping the opportunity to learn camp skills as a troop. Adult volunteers receive the same education as Camping Basics. Brownies and Juniors will earn the Eight Basic Skills patch. Additional helping adults will be required for girl/adult ratio and will not be trained in Troop Camping Basics. Troops will work as a patrol and will be required to provide all equipment and food for the overnight session. All activities take place rain, snow or shine. Please come prepared for outdoor activities. You will need ponchos for rain, and heavy coats, gloves, and boots for winter courses. Courses in winter will have indoor heated accommodations for sleeping. You must attend all hours scheduled for the course or you will not receive credit for taking the course. Directions to the sites will be sent with your confirmation.
There are 3 steps to certification – an online pre-session with quiz, a webinar with training team and an overnight experience with hands on demonstrations. The pre-session takes approx. 1-1.5 hours; the webinar takes approx. 1 hour (need phone and computer with internet access). To become Camping Certified, adults must complete the tutorial, webinar and the overnight session.
The Troop Camping Basics Weekend for this Webinar is December 1-3, 2017 at Camp Grove Point in Seagull, Blue Heron and the Program Center.
