Camping Basics Training (Webinar)
The Camping Basics Weekend for this Webinar is April 27, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. through April 28, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Camp Todd in the Hideaway.
Complete the Adult Education Registration Form (212-PM), which can be found be clicking the "Register" button above, and send the form to email@example.com. Once your registration is processed, you will receive an email with further instructions on the pre-quiz, webinar, and overnight trip.
Learn the skills you will need to take your girls on an outdoor trip including: planning, packing, cooking, fire building, care of camp site and equipment, and outdoor program ideas. You will be broken into patrols and required to provide all equipment and food for the overnight session. All activities take place rain, snow or shine. Please come prepared for outdoor activities. You will need ponchos for rain, and heavy coats, gloves, and boots for winter courses. Courses in winter will have indoor heated accommodations for sleeping. You must attend all hours scheduled for the course, or you will not receive credit for taking the course.
There are 3 steps to certification—an online pre-session with quiz, a webinar with training team, and an overnight experience with hands-on demonstrations. You will need a phone and a computer with internet access for the webinar. The pre-session takes approx. 1-1.5 hours; the webinar takes approx. 1 hour (need phone and computer with internet access). To become camping certified, adults must complete the tutorial, webinar, and the overnight session. Information regarding the webinar and pre-session quiz will be sent via email after registration is complete. Camping Basics Exemptions: Adults, who have previously taken Outdoor Education with another Girl Scout Council or another youth serving organization, may submit a camp exemption form.
