Madelyn David Goes for Gold

Madelyn David is a 16 year-old Junior at St. Georges Technical High School. She has been in Girl Scouts since first grade and is a member of Troop 743 in Middletown, DE. She has chosen Literacy for her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Her campaign is called "Project Read 2 Me". Her mission: Improve literacy while building relationships and providing valuable resources in the community.

Pledge ~ Read ~ Share.

She is hoping to encourage reading aloud between children and parents for 20 minutes per session. You can complete the pledge and start or commit to continuing a routine with your child today!

Many attended her kickoff at Glasgow Park (pavilion 1, by the playground) on Saturday, 9/14 from 10am to 12pm. She had three Paws for People pet teams available for children to read to, a reading craft, free bookmark, bring & take a book (or just take), "Minute Buddy" rescue certificate and resources highlighting the importance of reading aloud.

Another part of her project was to build a "Free Little Library" for others to enjoy and take advantage of.  Visit the location of her new "Free Little Library" in Middletown near Main Street at 215 N. Cass Street,
