Girl Opportunities

Introduction to Girl Scouting

Girl Scouts is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls, where, in an accepting and nurturing environment girls build character and skills for success in the real world. We provide a safe environment for girls to discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Girls can do anything and the possibilities are endless when they join together.

Today, Girl Scouts has a membership of more than 3.3 million girls and adults, and over 50 million women in the United States are Girl Scout alumnae. We are committed to helping girls build a firm foundation needed to help them reach their goals.

Whether you are new to Girl Scouting or have a history with us, you'll notice that we are changing at the speed of the girl. The Girl Scouts program is changing and will continue to change to meet the needs of girls while keeping the integrity of the GS experience the same.

Mission:
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
and to live by the Girl Scout Law.
Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

experience

Regardless of how a girl participates in Girl Scouts, we want them to feel they belong—and their families to know why it matters... we want them to experience the beginnings of leadership. Depending on the time commitment of the experience, some of the key elements will happen in a condensed way, though be assured they will be intentionally weaved throughout the Girl Scout experience.
