What is it? Program on the Move is a completely FREE program opportunity that Girl Scout troops and/or Service Units can request to come out to your meeting location.
What types of activities are available? There are a number of topic selections available, depending on your program level. Examples include seasonal hike, robotics, babysitter, math in nature, and more. View the dropdowns above to learn more about each topic.
How do I reserve it? Reservations are simple. Visit the GSCB Events Calendar to select a date that works for you. You'll choose General Program on the Move for indoor activities, and Outdoor Program on the Move if you want a topic that will get your girls outside. Once you find a date, you will select REGISTER and then enter your contact information, location, program level, etc. Within three business days a GSCB Program Specialist will connect with you to review additional details. If the program meets badge requirements, will girls receive the badge? Badges are not included. However, after reserving your program, GSCB will contact you about purchasing earned badges for your troop with no shipping costs. If you choose to purchase badges, we will do our best to have them delivered to girls during the program. Depending on when you place the order and shipping timelines, we may need to arrange a separate delivery.
What should I expect at my program? GSCB facilitators will bring all the necessary materials to facilitate a fun experience. Our facilitators will need 30 minutes to set up, so please ensure your meeting location can accommodate that. Programs are two hours and includes a debrief and survey. Girls will also receive a Program on the Move fun patch! One patch per membership year.
What do I need to do? All you need to do is reserve the location where you would like the Program on the Move team to come and ensure that the space is suitable for program activities. A Program Specialist will discuss the specifics of the lesson you choose, in order for you to ensure adequate space. Program on the Move cannot visit in-home meetings. If you need assistance finding a location, please let us know. Reminder: Facilitators are just that--facilitators. Your Troop is responsible for providing the appropriate ratios. Troop Leaders/Co-leaders must be present.
What days are available for visits? We offer Program on the Move Sunday - Saturday throughout the year with a short break during the holiday season. Please visit the Events Calendar for more information.
What happens if I need to cancel? If you need to cancel, please contact GSCB Member Care at 1-800-341-4007 immediately. We thank you in advance for this, as it helps us to provide as many program opportunities as possible.
How many girls can participate? Most programs are planned for groups of 5 – 30. We are happy to accommodate troops of any size. Please help us be good stewards of our resources and if your Troop has fewer than five participants, please reach out to your VSS to connect you with Troops to partner with. We can accommodate larger than 30 participants, please reach out to discuss logistics and the program best suited for a group your size.
How can Juliettes participate? Program on the Move is currently designed to be reserved by Troops and Service Units. Juliettes who meet the required group size of 5 can make their own reservation. However, GSCB actively monitors reservations and will invite local Juliettes to events in their area. Juliette caregivers should be on the lookout for these invitations. Service Units should also be encouraging their troops to share when they are reserving Program on the Move to extend invitations to Juliettes as well.
What happens in the case of inclement weather? While it is GSCB’s intention to always deliver scheduled programming to troops, inclement weather may necessitate cancellation of programming. Program Specialists, in coordination with the Associate Director of Program and Partnerships, may make decisions to hold or cancel programs on an individual basis based on the safety and well-being of all involved.
