As Girl Scout Volunteers, we are called to action to be role models and to protect the safety and well-being of our Girl Scouts. This means that there may come a time where we need to be prepared to handle uncomfortable circumstances to protect one of our members. In a situation involving child abuse and neglect, it is important that each and every one of us are able to understand our responsibilities as Mandated Reporters for a youth serving organization.
We are excited to announce that we have partnered with
the State of Delaware Office of the Child Advocate to provide
virtual training opportunities to our volunteers. Through this
training we will gain an understanding of relevant state laws,
requirements for reporting, and the signs and symptoms of abuse and
neglect, and will receive guidance on reasons to report and
information on how to report.
*This will be a REQUIRED training for all volunteers in a
Service Unit or Troop Leader role in MY23 and is highly recommended to
all volunteers. Guidelines in this training are relevant to all states
within the GSCB footprint (DE, MD, VA), and individual reporting
information for each state will be shared.
