Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay (GSCB) is excited to announce the appointment of Ashley Booth, preferred name Booth, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately. In her new role, Booth will oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that GSCB continues to deliver high-quality programming and support to Girl Scouts and volunteers across the region.
A longtime member of the Girl Scouts organization, Booth grew up going to Girl Scout camp and completing outdoor leadership programs like Program Aide, Counselor in Training I & II, and Wrangler in Training. She eventually became a Junior Camp Counselor, and then part of the seasonal Camp Staff. On this, she said: "My love for Girl Scouts is deeply embedded with our outdoor programming and leadership opportunities that exist within our mission."
Booth is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at Rowan University. She holds a Master’s degree from Temple University and a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in education from Arcadia University. Over the past three years, Booth has served in various Girl Experience (Operations and Programming) and Camp (Hiring, Safety, and Compliance) roles at Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, recently completing her 13th summer at Girl Scout overnight camp. Prior to this, she gained valuable experience working in higher education at several universities. Booth also volunteers at local theatre companies in Philadelphia where she serves as a community choreographer for various adult and youth productions. Her passion for empowering youth and her commitment to the mission of the Girl Scouts make her an ideal fit for this position.
“Booth has a proven track record of fostering growth and innovation in the GIrl Scout Movement,” said Claudia Peña Porretti, GSCB’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are thrilled to welcome her to our team."
In her role as COO, Booth will focus on strategic planning, operational efficiency, and community and membership engagement. She is dedicated to cultivating an inclusive environment where every Girl Scout can develop leadership skills, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
"Even with having various professional degrees, the skills I have gained from my Girl Scout opportunities have been invaluable in my personal and professional life and I look forward to continuing to help make the world a better place together with our Girl Scout community," said Booth about how her Girl Scout experience eventually led her to accept the COO position.
The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay has a rich history of inspiring girls to be courageous and confident leaders. With Booth’s leadership, the organization is poised for continued success and growth in the years to come.
Booth is dedicated to getting to know Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay members and the DelMarVa community, and she invites anyone to attend a virtual Meet & Greet session with her at the following dates:
