DOVER, DE - On April 10th, 2025, Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay hosted an Advocacy Day at Delaware Legislative Hall in Dover, DE. The event invited legislators to learn about Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay and included a Girl Scout Cookies Reception from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm in the Senate Hearing Room with Girl Scouts Alexis Abrams, Olivia Bruno, and Ashlin Palmeri, along with dad Chris Abrams and moms Tracie Bruno and Megan Palmeri.
In the afternoon, GSCB was honored with a Senate Resolution co-sponsored by Sen. Laura Sturgeon and Rep. Deb Heffernan, declaring April 10, 2025, Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Day. GSCB CEO Claudia Peña Porretti and the accompanying Girl Scouts were special guests of Sen. Sturgeon and were seated on the Senate floor. Each was introduced to the Senate Chamber by Sen. Sturgeon to much applause. Claudia addressed the Senate to update them on GSCB, then they moved to the Senate Gallery and watched newly elected, first-term Governor Matt Meyer's first State of the State Address.
To end the day, the group was invited to meet the governor thanks to the efforts of Sen. Sturgeon and GSCB Board Member Vanessa Phillips, the governor's Chief of Staff.
