Become a Volunteer

Prepare her for a lifetime of leadership, and be the mentor she needs. Volunteer with Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay.

Girl Scout Volunteers are cheerleaders, guides, and mentors that help girls develop essential life skills that will last a lifetime. No matter what volunteer role you choose, you will make an impact in a girl’s life at Girl Scouts. Getting started is easy and our Chesapeake Bay staff are here to help every step of the way. Begin your Girl Scout volunteer journey with these two steps:

1. Registration

Every Girl Scout volunteer must be a registered member of Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay. The Girl Scout membership year runs from Oct 1 to Sept 30. At the close of each year, renewal of membership is required to continue participating. The adult membership fee is $25.00. Financial Assistance is available for those who qualify.

  • During registration, select “Register as a volunteer”
  • When prompted, enter the troop number you wish to volunteer with. If you don’t know the troop number, you need to be connected with a troop, or you want to start a new troop, select UNSURE and a staff member will contact you for further assistance.
  • To apply for Financial Assistance, choose “Request Financial Assistance” on the payment screen.

2. Background Check

All Girl Scout volunteers must complete a background check to ensure the safety and well-being of our Girl Scouts and adult members. Use the button below to complete the required background check, and follow these tips:

  • Use a laptop or desktop computer to complete the background check. The Asurint system does not support smart phone or tablet use.
  • The background check may seem repetitive but keep going until you hit the final submit button. You will receive a confirmation email once the form is completed.
  • The background check comes with a $6.25 fee. There are two payment options:
    1. For the self-pay option, please use portal code: selfpay
    2. For the council-pay option, please use the portal code: councilpay
